Aaron Manes

Novice Boys Coach

Aaron Manes is currently in his first academic year as the girl's novice coach with Arlington-Belmont Crew.  Before joining AB Crew, he spent four years as an assistant coach at Medford High School.  Over those four years, he led the women's novice team in several strong seasons, including an undefeated season in 2015, along with winning a State Championship. 

Originally from Connecticut, he is a 2001 Aaron is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he was a member of the crew team.  After working for six years, he returned to rowing, but this time to serve as a volunteer assistant coach for the women’s open weight crew team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during parts of the 2007 and 2008 seasons.  At the end of the 2008 season he decided to return to school to complete his Master’s of sports leadership from Northeastern University.  Upon graduation, Aaron once again returned to coaching, serving as the assistant varsity coach for the women’s crew team at Boston Latin High School during the 2011 season.  Working primarily with the 3rd and 4th eights and fours, Aaron's 3rd Varsity 8 qualified for the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships, and his 2nd Varsity four finished first at the MPSRA's.

When not coaching, Aaron is a special education paraprofessional at Brookline High School.  He lives in Chelsea with his wife Adrienne, three and a half year old daughter Caroline, and their two cats Brooklyn and Lucy.
